Class notes and presentation – 5.4 Eutrophication

Re-arrange the statements in order of the eutrophication process (handout).

TASK: From the list of solutions to Eutrophication (see handout), independently identify whether the solutions are level 1, level 2 or level 3 pollution management strategies [according to the syllabus diagram/model Fig 5 below]. Once you are done, turn to the person next to you and justify your choice – take personal notes from the discussion.

TASK:  Choose a solution from each level (from the list). Research, describe and evaluate each chosen strategy. You can structure your answer in table format which can later turn into a short essay. Example of headings could include:

• Name of the strategy level (from syllabus diagram/model)
• Description of the suggested solution (with a real world example from the list)
• Advantages of the suggested solution  (ex: costs, technology, efficiency, etc.)
• Challenges in implementing of solution
